The Chosen Soundstage

For the third season of The Chosen, an American television series depicting the life of Jesus of Nazareth, producers needed a stand-alone soundstage and production complex near Midlothian, Texas. Conventional construction timelines were not an option, as filming had to begin quickly. The production team turned to Pacifica Ventures to explore alternative solutions, and Pacifica Ventures partnered with Sprung Structures and CRC Construction Group to make it happen.

The-Chosen-6-CustomIn just six months, the team delivered a 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art soundstage complete with a 40-foot independent lighting grid and 9,000 square feet of offices. The unique wall system features a four-layer sound attenuation system, ensuring the space meets professional motion picture and television production standards. Additional Sprung facilities were built to house mill space, wardrobe, props, lighting, and grip departments.

The exterior is protected by Shelter-Rite Style 8324 fabric with Tedlar® PVF, manufactured in the USA and supplied by Seaman Corporation. Domestic production allowed the membrane to be provided quickly, keeping the project on its accelerated schedule. Tedlar® offers outstanding dirt-shedding properties and, with long-lasting pigments, delivers superior resistance to color fading. Its technology is essentially self-cleaning, creating a high-performance, long-term durable surface in white or colored fabric.

Seaman Corporation has partnered with Sprung Structures since the early 1980s. For over 40 years, Shelter-Rite architectural fabrics have been engineered with a proprietary coating formula for superior UV and mildew resistance, combined with a unique weft-inserted knit fabric for excellent tensile, tear, and seam strength. This time-tested technology ensures architectural structures maintain their aesthetics for decades.

This project demonstrates how fabric structures can replace conventional construction to meet tight deadlines while delivering world-class performance and design. If you need a high-performance building delivered quickly, contact us to discuss your project.
