Able to withstand even the most severe winter weather, Shelter-Rite® fabric by Seaman Corporation was used to create an attractive hospitality and entertainment facility on the shores of Lake Michigan.
The Buffington Harbor Casino, which supports two 37,000-square-foot riverboats, is housed inside an 80,000-square-foot complex constructed by Sprung Instant Structures, Inc.
Located directly on Lake Michigan, the complex is exposed to extremely heavy lake effect snow loads and 80 mph Exposure D wind loads, requiring a durable fabric with exceptionally high life expectancy. In addition, the building is surrounded by a number of large, heavy industrial plants, resulting in a concentration of airborne pollutants.
Sprung created the structure with highly tensioned 24-ounce opaque Shelter-Rite fabric coated with Tedlar for extra durability, cleanability and long life expectancy.
Three years after the complex was completed, there are no signs of any degradation. In addition, the anti-stick, non-stain performance of Tedlar-coated Shelter-Rite fabric has helped to maintain the clean and bright appearance of the complex.
